The ‘Gluten Free Life’ taste test GOYA Plantain Chips | Lashaun Turner | NewsBreak Original
The Gluten Free Life with Lashaun Turner introduces and reviews ready-to-go meal and snack products that are certified gluten free, as well as discussion & tips on gluten-free living.
Gluten Free Life
In today’s post I will be sharing my impressions of GOYA Plantain Chips. I found these gluten-free potato chip alternatives in my local grocery store and decided to try them out.
I want to share a bit of information first. Potatoes are naturally gluten free, but potato chips aren’t necessarily labeled gluten-free. This may be due to the production area where they are made and packaged with other products, potentially containing gluten.
As you may have noticed in my past articles, I have interwoven some autoimmune considerations into the products I choose to test. This is why I began to look outside of potatoes for chips as for some (myself included) I find them triggering of inflammation.
Even if you can eat regular potato chips that are clearly marked gluten-free, you may want to try plantain chips as well.
What are Plantains?
Plantains are a type of fruit. Bananas and plantains are members of the same family. Plantains contain more starch and less sugar than bananas. Therefore, the texture is different.
Plantains are usually cooked before being eaten and are sometimes referred to as “cooking bananas”.

Impressions
Wow! The deep fried lightly salted chips have quickly become my favorite go-to snack. They are crunchy, hearty, and really satisfying for late-night cravings.
I’ve eaten them with sandwiches, dips, and have been overly pleased with the chips taste, utility, and lower salt content. I definitely recommend them.
Tip: If you like GOYA Plantain Chips as much as I do, I eat them almost every day, you can find 5oz bags by the case on Amazon.
