IMPRESSED: 5 day Princess Cruise To Cabo San Lucas
I decided to step up my cruise game from the fun Carnival experience to a more upscale type experience of Princess Cruises. I embarked Dec 9, for a 5 day cruise to Cabo San Lucas on the Royal Princess. I purchased a balcony cabin & if you do get the opportunity I highly recommend this type of cabin for cruises longer than 3 or 4 days. (I’ve cruised inside, ocean and now balcony). Here are my IMPRESSIONS:
- Quick Embarkation & my stateroom was ready early.
- Buffet; lots of assortment including a whole buffet just for desserts ( which were AWESOME)- plenty of places to eat with specialty dining ,and, I also ordered room service a few times ( limited menu) which is included..
- There were thousands of people on the ship but nothing really felt crowded to me ( except elevators). You could still find plenty of quiet hang out spots around..
- The Balcony Cabin on the Baja deck-was very enjoyable- I spent more time in my room on my private balcony than out on decks- it was just tranquil and I love the ocean and to watch the water. I saw one whale and dolphins jumping and playing around- it was so beautiful. I was able to order mixed drinks and food right to the room- so I really capitalized on my time being in the upgraded stateroom.
- Entertainment- they had a Production show, Dive in movie on the Lido deck, Comedy ( altho they took the act off the 2nd Sea day- which was when i planned to go see him) and tons of activities if you chose to participate. The Casino was also a popular place to hang out and the machines were OK- i came out even after betting $40, winning $90and playing back $50. ( it’s been a week since i’ve been back and i still haven’t received the winning on my credit card and had to call and was told it takes up to 14 days)
- Disembarkation- could have been better, i was a walk off and it took 45min to an hour to make it off the boat.
HERE ARE SOME VISUALS I TOOK
I actually had very few complaints if any:
- The carpet in the cabin showed a little wear but really not that bad- just noticeable.
- My biggest complaint was that there didn’t appear to be an elevator or escalator to the top sports decks where the gym and basketball court were. I was able to go up there but by stairs only ( i guess if you can’t climb stairs you might not want to play basketball or go to the gym?) — I usually walk the track ( bad knees/hips) but could only get up there once..
Overall on a 5 scale- i’d give it a 4.0 and definitely everyone should see El Arco, Lover’s and Divorce Beach in Cabo for themselves at least once. — There were various excursions for you to choose from. But, one thing — ( TIP) the ship tenders in and so from the vantage point where we were anchored you had excellent views and camera shots of El Arco- you don’t need to by an excursion to see it..
I know from being on a Carnival (fun) Ship- after midnight you will have people stumbling down the halls drunk- I didnt experience any of that on Princess ( the crowd was older and less kids) it seemed everybody went to bed by midnight (lol) and it was pretty quiet. Peaceful. If you want Party definitely Carnival.. But, I alsmost feel like never going back to Carnival (IMAGINATION/INSPIRATION) those are so old — while the Royal Princess was much bigger and more refined, decorated.
Anyway- I would recommend Southern Californians to getaway on Princess to Cabo San Lucas!
