The heartbreaking disappearance of the two California City boys remains a mystery.

On December 21, 2020, 4-year-old Orrin and 3-year-old Orson West were reported missing from their home at 10717 Aspen Ave. at around 5:45 p.m. in California City.

Jacqueline and Trezell West, their adoptive parents, said the boys had vanished from the backyard. Trezell West said that the boys were last seen in the backyard drawing with chalk while Jacqueline West was inside wrapping Christmas presents.

Trezell West said he had been collecting wood from a nearby field and when he returned the boys were gone. After conducting his own search, he notified California City Police to report the boys missing.

At the time of their disappearance both boys were about 3 feet tall and weighed around 40 pounds. They were last seen wearing black sweaters and dark-colored sweatpants.

The story of the two boys polarized the small town and citizens joined in the search efforts for the boys. Police have conducted exhaustive searches in the days, weeks and months that have followed but the boys have not been located.

The Bakersfield Police Department released a graphic overview of where they are in the investigation indicating 83 people have been interviewed, 44 search warrants have been conducted on residences and electronic devices, 170 items have been seized, over 200 tips have been received, `16 mass area searches have been conducted and three searches have been conducted outside of California.

Police emphasize Investigations into the disappearances of the boys remain active and is asking for anyone with information regarding the whereabouts, circumstances, or any other information to call the Kern secret witness tip-line at (661) 322–4040

There is a reward for information leading to the boys whereabouts and is set at $125,000.
