Detroit in uproar over Hakim Littleton police shooting when video shows he pulled gun on police

Police chief James Craig spoke about the incident Saturday morning. He said he stands behind his officers and their decision to pull the trigger.

“Clearly when you look at this video, the officer responded appropriately,” Craig said. “It certainly was a threat to that of his own life and that of his partners.” He went on to explain “When Mr. Littleton was walking in the opposite direction, he heard that his friend was being detained, then he walked toward the officers,” Craig told reporters. “Some comments were made. He was angry about his friend being arrested, and that’s when he pulled out his weapon.”

Craig said erroneous messages on social media incited the protest by misleading the public into believing Littleton was unarmed. “We needed to get the facts out,” he said. “It’s always tragic when a police officer has to use force.” Craig added, “This knee-jerk reaction to not knowing facts is a problem … It’s to incite others.”

#WhatISaid- Not sure I understand what they are protesting over? He clearly pulled out a gun and shot at the police.. I love a good protest . But this doesnt seem to be a fruitful one.
