Colorado police officers fired for taking pics mocking a chokehold at Elijah McClain's memorial

Aurora’s interim police chief fired two of the three officers who posed for a photo last October reenacting a chokehold at the site of Elijah McClain’s arrest. The third officer already had resigned and another officer was terminated who had received the photo and replied Ha HA to it!. Jason Rosenblatt, was one of the three officers involved in McClain’s death last summer, was in the photo. McClain died on Aug. 27, three days after his confrontation with Aurora Police. The officers involved in his arrest did not receive criminal charges, but a new investigation is underway by Colorado’s attorney general.

“We are ashamed, we are sickened, and we are angry about what I have to share,” interim Chief Vanessa Wilson announced at an afternoon news conference. “While the allegations of this internal affairs case are not criminal, they are a crime against humanity and decency. To even think about doing such a thing is beyond comprehension and it is reprehensible.”
